Is this an extra light switch? was created by skippr76KZ
I'm starting to figure out that maybe I got some extra parts mixed in to my big box of parts that I've slowly been restoring and adding to the LTD. This does not show up in the parts diagram for my LTD. It looks like a head light switch that mounts to a bracket for the handlebar mounts. I wire brushed the old paint off and put the bracket to the polisher. It looks good there, but it is not functional. Found a 4 plug matching connector off the wiring harness. But again, the handlebar control takes care of the light just fine. Anybody know the story on this switch? Is it for a different bike?

That looks like a switch used when a faring like a vetter has been added, I assume it controls some of the running lights or is for bikes with no light switch.

I agree flashers or running lights. Or everytime you push it someones garage door is cycling.

4-way hazzards it is. I assume that's flashing turnsignals front and back at the same time. Unfortunately, it's not working, so I'll have to do some detective work. Thanks all!

Hm, and all this time I thought it was the knob to actuate the rear ejector seat to toss a PITA passenger.
J/K ;)

Yes, it will flash all 4 turn signals at the same time.
I had heard that when Kawi added that knob intitially, it was thought it might possibly confuse a new owner. So before it hit final production, they added the 4 little emblems on it's top that resemble flashing lights to hopefully remedy the possible confusion.

Skip - That is a four way flasher switch. If you look at your battery box, there is a finned thing that looks like a heat sink. It will sit on the right/top of the battery box as you sit on the bike. There is also another flasher relay; identical to the OEM original for the turn signals sitting next to the "heat sink" looking thing. The four way wires are brown and orange or something like that going to the flasher relay. I can provide better detail, if you don't figure it out but I haven't looked at those wires for awhile. I have a 4-way flasher system on one of my carb test bikes.

Thanks for weighing in George! I don't have a "finned heat sink looking thing on or near my battery box. And I suspect that I may have not exactly put my battery box together correctly as indicated by other posts where I'm trying to identify what and where this battery box looking bracket goes. Wireman has given me some ideas, but the way I have my battery box set-up there's no way that thing fits anywhere on the box. But back to this issue. I do not have a 2nd relay flasher either. I have only one turn-signal relay. On my 76LTD900 supplement shop manual there is the electric diagram and it doesn't show a 2nd relay for a 4-way flasher either. Is it possible that the LTD model for this year did not have the 4-way flasher officially? And somehow the previous owners might have put it on there? I didn't think that I saw the flasher switch in the LTD parts diagram on Kawasaki's site either. The good news is I have a spare flasher courtesy of an order to Z1. The question is what connections?

Stop the Presses! Good News. I took that spare flasher and found an extra orange and brown wire in the mid part of the wiring harness (near the rear-brake light switch) and hooked them up. The flashers work Great! Thanks for the help guys.

Whoa, Skip!
The 900 LTD did not come with a hazzard flasher. If you're going for 'original', you don't want it.
This pic shows the correct handlebar setup for the LTD:
