Ignition coils and plug wires

does anyone know if the plug wires on the ignition coil from a 80' 440 ltd are seperate from the I. coil? I need to replace the wires but I didn't want to just pull them out and find out later that they weren't built to do that. Thanks,

Lets see if I can post a pic. Not sure about your bike and coils but if the wire or wires have a collar where the wire enters the coil then you can unscrew the collar and remove the wire, If no collar then perhaps you can cut the existing wire and splice a new one ?

I've never done it but have heard that there are little thingies available to help join the new wires to the old. It might be a good idea to search the archives or check at a local auto parts store.

These ones,I got from NGK,and they DO work great!
You just cut off the wire at the coil(leaving a couple inches from the coil),and install these.
There's plastic tapers and rubber compression fittings inside,so they're waterproof,and it also makes for a snug fit.

Yup...I definately HAVE learned a lot about My bike over the years...and thanks to Guys like You,Jim(and a lot of Others)...there's not a whole lot that I HAVEN'T learned about,and done to this ol Kaw.
Hell...it HAS to be worth at LEAST...$50k by NOW...huh?LOL
