The Z1 electrical panel is unique to the Z1 73-75. The biggest difference in the Z1 and KZ panels is the location switched from right side to left side and the order of the components mounted switched. The retifier and starter solenoid changed places. Similarly, the center harness behind the panel changed a little - mainly in the leght of some of the wires.

Pat, I would get a wiring harness to match the type plug box you find. I think the 76-80 versions are pretty much the same and pretty common so would just spring for a 76-80 wiring harness.

The 1974 Z1 A uses a "stop light" in the tach, and the wiring harness is specific to this year/model. And I want to use the same harness to keep this cool option. Plus at some point I plan on changing it back to as close to stock ( looks anyway ) as I can.
But thanks, I had thought of that too ( changing wiring and plug in ). This thing is such a Frankenstien bike as it is, I don't want to get the wiring any worse than it is:S :( Thus the reason for a NEW harness and a Z1 Enterpises ( hopefully) electical panel.
Thanks, Pat

Pat, try www.partsfish.com for the parts diagrams. They have pre '76 models.

Pat, not to confuse things, but I doubt the small lights up in the instruments are wired off the main harness. I think there is a small separate harness that goes to the lights in the instruments. Not sure if it plugs direct into a later harness or not... There is also a separate harness for the tail light and rear turn signals.

George,
You are right sir. But... all the info I have found shows that the main wiring harness has a "pig tail " for lack of better wording that the gauges harness plugs into. This "pig tail" is set up for the brake light wire in the tach. But ONLY for the 1974 and some of the 1975 Z1's

Sorry, guess you'll have to cut and paste
 I don't have my wife here to help an old man figure out these things
