Tach jumping was created by ~DW~
My tach on my Kz1000p is smooth up until about 4k, after that it wont hold steady, jumps up to like 6 or 7k than back. It's electric, I checked the wires and they seem fine. I wonder if its on the way out? Is there a test i can make on it?

UPDATE (ten days later)

Maybe this will help someone sometime.

had the answer, the plate that holds the pick-up's under the timing cover (right side) of my (stock) electronic ignition has four lil screws that hold it on.
So, when the rotor lobe is pointed at (either pick-up) there needs to be a measured gap of .020-.032 "
(who knew?)
I didn't, thought that plate was totaly stationary (not!) so, if you ever have that plate off ? when you put it back on ?..check the gap (on both sides) if the plate is way left, or right, your engine will run fine, but your tach might jump.

Thanks again to Dan the Man ! aka "The Motor Doctor"

P.S. My; "Tach is Baaack !"
