are bikes like cars with timing? can you advance the timing on a bike to produce a little more power and cleaner burn. if so what is the max advance on a kz650 and kz1000. i avdanced my kz650 just a little and it seems to run much better than the stock setting. i'm running accel coils, dyna s ignition, pods, and a v&h exhaust with no packing inside. it runs great with the timing advanced a little, but at stock timing it runs a little rough.

I just timed my bike by ear years ago and i had my timing high. You will know when you get it too high as the cranking rpm will drop. you don't want to put too much strain on the starter. Just my oppinion. Roy

with no packing in the muffler it will be harder to hear knock. You can advance the ignition as long as you know you are not getting any knock.
