Dim turn signals was created by DeadHeadSurfer
Hi,

I have a 1979 KZ650SR. I recently got it back from the mechanic, who cleaned and tuned my carbs. Now I am moving on to all the other little bits that need attention. I have noticed that my turn signals have suddenly dimmed significantly, as in almost impossible to see. They used to work well, and were quite bright. I suspect this is probably due to a bad connection somewhere, but which areas should I check first? This is affecting all four signals, and the actual blinking lights on the gauges as well.

Also, soon I will be getting new tires. Any recommendations? I am considering the Dunlop GT501's, but if people have had success with the D404's, I might go with those to save a few bucks. I don't want to go cheap though, and the GT501's look like a nice tire.

Looks like I will be bleeding the brakes soon too. I would just feel more comfortable knowing I have fresh clean fluid. I'm guessing this is a fairly simple procedure? or are there any tricks/tips to it?

Thanks,

Jason

Look for a bad ground (my first guess) or faulty turn signal relay.

Welcome to KZR DHS.

Check your battery for strength, if it doesn't have a full charge, you will have weak lights. You may need a new battery if it's very old.

Here's a post on brake bleeding that has some good info: Brake bleeding . Search in the archives for more info.

And then there's the Tire Poll .

Gives us some pictures of your ride as well. ;)

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I got the signals working, but I think I have a faulty hazard relay. Let the hunt begin...

It looks like the GT501's are the way to go, so I'll get those ordered soon.

Here's a pic :)
