Stumbles at highway speed. was created by ran429
was wondering if unmodified carburetors with Pods would cause a Highway speeds stumble ?

Say like im doing 60-70 on the interstate and I have to reach down and set the choke to 1/4 or 1/2 so it will smoothe out a little and accellerate properly, but then when i come to a stop I have to reach back down and open the choke back up and it idles fine.

Just wondering ?

Going to try finding an airbox somewhere. Its the kz900 i am referring to here.

Sounds lean. You have to enrichen mixture at speed and lean it out at idle. Go up at least 1 main jet size. Careful to lean at high speeds can be expensive.

One other thing to consider is fuel starvation. Try highway speed with the gas cap open/unlocked but lying closed. See if the extra air flow in the tank allows fuel to fill the bowls better...

By the way, did this symptom just start with new pods (or some other change) or was it always this way? If is was just the new pods, I'm more inclined to think about jetting...

Does it only do it at highway speeds? Or does it do it at a specific RPM? If it does it at a specific RPM I would recommend setting the points. Mine would almost refuse to rev past 5500. I set the points (dwell & timing) and it revs a lot better. Not perfect, but a noticable improvement. I've got a new set of points on order and when they come in I'll be replacing them and the plugs.
