Carb size?

Heres my setup,1075,10:25-1,stock valves,410 cams in,and ex.Now I need a set of carbs,34's or 36's?

I'd go with the 34's. 36mm carbs might be a little too big. I was told 36's would be good for a 1200cc motor or there abouts. The 34's would be better for the street for sure. It would run ok with the 36's but I think you would give up some of your bottom end grunt for just a little(maybe) more top end power. Remember, you are still only 1075cc! Maybe someone here has your set-up and can give first hand advice, I don't, but know of others who have different set-ups and from what I've heard over the years. Bigger isn't necessarliy better when it comes to carbs.

36's would be too big. As racer said you would lose bottom end but gain a bit in top end. How often are you going to be going full speed anyway? Everytime you pull away from a stop sign or red light you will be wanting the extra bottom end you will get from the 34's. You will have to ask George about jetting.

29's would be great if you had them. I love the ones on my 1075, but at the prices they are going for, I think the 34's would be the next best. I remember paying $300 for mine and I thought that was outrageous! Guess my "retirement investment" just keeps going up!

I have 3 rebuildable sets off a late 70's 650.
they have the pumps under #2 I think it is.

Well actually,I sold a set of 29's earlier this year,Ive wanted to try radial flat slides for some time just more modern,accelerator pump and all.George,any thoughts on jetting?

Sorry, can't help with radial flatslides. Suggest since you are buying them new to ask the seller as they should have some "standard" jetting set up for these carbs.

If the cams where under 380 lift or there abouts I would say 29mm smoothbores (ummmm smoothbores, drool). 36mm for dragracing where the bike will only see part throttle for warming up back tire. I guess 34mm if that is only option left. The 29mm flatslides that came on early GSXR 750's (85 in Canada) can be bored to 32 or even 33mm and have same spacing as KZ's.

I am building a 1075 12:1 motor with 380 lift cams. Have been recommended 36mm for racing by local raceshop.
