31mm flatsides? was created by kawtoy
There is a set of 31mm flatsides here locally that should be able to get pretty cheap. They would go on my 1000 with 10.5-1 comp pistons, 4-1 pipes, accel coils, 410 cams. Anyone know much about these carbs? How would they work with my setup? Thanks

I don't know off-hand what the size of your stock carbs are, but if the flatslides are the same size or larger, I would think you should see a performance increase. I find them very easy to work on and set up, and have not had any problem with them, other than a slide adjusting bolt/nut coming loose.

Keep in mind that if you go too big, you won't be able to pull enough air through the carbs to properly atomize the fuel. I don't know anything about the bigger bikes and carb sizes, but I just thought I'd mention that going too big can be apparently bad for performance.

31mm really isn't too big for a 1000. I'm running 36mm on an 1170, no problems.

check intake ports on your heads, stock ports work pretty good with 29s but check to make sure theyll work with the 31,if the ports are to small youll be causing more problems by restricting it!

Got $5.00 says you will like them better than any carb that came stk on any 1000 kaw provided they aren't messed up. Had a built 750 with 29 smooths, broke it, put carbs on a stk 650 and it was pleasent to ride. Had a REALLY built 1196 with 34 smooths, broke it, put them on a stk 900, just a bit much. I would have to say, Go with them if they are in good shape and haven't sat for some time
