Need advice on carbs!! was created by junkmc
Hey Guys I have a 76 kz900. I need to get some new carbs for the bike! Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I was thinking about putting a pair of mikuni 28's on it. My petcock has one gas line and I'm running a four into one exhuast and air pods!! Should I stay with buying 26 mikuni's or should I go up to 28's. Or maybe something else entirely!! Any opinons at all would be very helpful. Thanks!!!

Why do you need new carbs? Are the ones you have not rebuildable?

I just picked up this bike last week and it has no Carbs!! I took a pair off of the other KZ I have and the new one ran great!! So I've decided to buy a new(used) pair for this bike. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on other carbs that may help the bike run smoother!!

I like the BS34 CV set. Have seen for under $100 on ebay. Make sure you get from a reputable seller and that diaphragms are good. In my experience the '...i don't know much about...should be perfect with a little cleaning...as-is...' sellers are to be avoided. Or buy some ready to go from wired george. Get seller to include the boots too. They are bigger. Also, carbs seem to be the one thing that older MC shops with big boneyards have a lot of so you may get a deal around your town.

hey junk,i have a set of 34mm cv's off my 1100,they've been on the shelf for a year and a half, they worked great before the new motor build,i stepped the new carbs up to 36mm rs's,that's the only reason i'm not running them, hollar if your interested i'll treat you rite on them,i hate to see these parts sitting on the shelf knowing i'll never use them again.

I like 29mm smoothbores. 28mm at a minimum.

Alot of people think that the KZ900 is underpowered with the 26mm's.
I've never ridden a 900 that had bigger carbs. If you go with bigger carbs, can you keep everything else on the bike 'stock'?

all depends on how you ride. normal, day to day riding..26's work fine. some harder riding may need bigger carbs.
