gas in vacume tubes

i got a lot of gas in the little tubes to hook up for a vacume tester!
thats telling me that its running way rich right?
i should have a little in it but its full when i take it off!
i hope i can reset the floats and thats its!

also i get alot of gas sitting in the air in take between the filter and carbs. the needle setting is at #4 (one down from top)! lean right?
also it just wont go now until i hit 4000 rpms! boggs way down if i hit the gas hard.

Your carburetors atomize gas/air and send it down along the intake runner to the combustion chamber. If you don't find gas in the vacuum ports, I would think you had a problem. Gas in there is normal.

If this is raw gas I would suspect your float valves are not shuting off properly.

That's normal. There is no air flow through the little tubes and caps so it doesn't get cleared. As WG said, I'de be worried if it wasn't there.

(If you let the bike sit long enough, it should eventually evaporate, but it takes a long time.)

That's not to say the bike is not too rich, it's still possible.

As for the boots from the airbox to the carbs, are you sure it's all gas? Oil will accumulate there from the crankcase breather which normally feeds into the airbox. I run the crank breather through a fitting to a hose to the ground.

Why would it be "normal" for the air intake boots to have gas in them.

The only time I have had raw gas in these intake boots was when I had a float valve leaking.

The gas accumulates in the little pipe that is molded into the rubber intake manifold. That pipe has a rubber cap on it. You take the cap off to connect the hose from a vacuum tester. Some of the pipes point upward, and some point downward. The ones that point downward accumulate raw liquid gasoline which fell out of suspension. It's just gravity. Fuel is in droplets and some fall downward. Since there is no air flow through the pipe, the gasoline does not get sucked out. When you pull the cap off to connect a vacuum tester, that gas runs out of the pipe.

A different issue is the accumulation of gasoline in the air-boot between the airbox and the carbs. Bad valve sealing, or overflowing carbs can cause gas to accumulate there. If there is a lot acccumulating there, that is a definite problem that needs to be fixed. If the accumulation is thicker and more like oil, it is most likely oil droplets from the crankcase breather routed to the airbox. That is somewhat normal. There will also be a small accumulation of similar sludge at the bottom of the airbox. Obviously, this only pertains to bikes that are routed that way.

i thoght that it was normal but wasnt sure
i do have the crank case breather vent to the air box, so thats probaly why i have this little accumulation of gas/oil/sludge!
