What are typical gains over stock with this setup on a '77 1000cc motor? I'm thinking K&N filters, Vance and Hines megaphone or Mac, and recommended jetting changes. I test drove one tonight and I'm interested in seeing how this motor can be tuned. It's 100% stock and IMHO, a bit choked up. This thing needs to be uncorked a bit. What are you guys doing (sea level) short of a big bore/stroker?

I have a 650 so I don't know if this helps. When I installed pods, 4 into 1 pipe and jetted it I noticed I lost some low end grunt but traded it for more upper end power.

For the most part a 4-1, some pods, go up 2 sizes on jets and invest in a Dyna ignition and some coils and you are set to go. Cams can be "degreeded in" meaning the opening and closing points about TDC can be changed for more top end power. At a minimumm use 28 mm carbs not the 26ers. If possible get a set of 29mm smoothbores or a set of early GSXR flatslide carbs (need GPZ1100 manifolds).
