Finally got my project 550 running after a couple years. Turned out to have a nasty vacuum leak though, and I'm pretty sure I narrowed it down to the carburetor holders on the head.

I managed to get some new holders, but I'm having real trouble finding o-rings for them (part number is 92055-1233). Does anyone know of a drop in alternative that would work, I've got a kit of numerous sizes of o-rings but the trouble is, the rubber itself is far too thick for the holders to be able to compress the ring and seat flat against the head. So ideally, I would like to know the thickness of these parts when fresh (my old ones are completely disintegrated so I can't go off them).

If anyone has any insight I'd greatly appreciate it.

Partizilla indicates they have that part (92055-1233) Can not say if they do or not, as I did not try to purchase any.

Viton O-rings are needed for that application.  Common Nitrile will quickly fail due to the heat.

You might want to try measuring the groove in the boot.  O-rings are commonly sized by thickness and ID.  A dash number sized O-ring may fit.  You can find conversion charts for the size.  If you measure the groove, I can help you look...

@gd4now unfortunately, they're on backorder with no ETA at partzilla. Needing to cancel my order is what brought me here.

@Nessism i will get a quick measurement of the O-ring groove on the holders today after work and get back to you.

CMSNL is great, they've saved my skin a couple times with hard to find parts (pretty sure I snagged the last new center stand main spring on the planet there), but shipping is not the cheapest. It'd work out to almost $100CAD just for 4 o-rings. You're right, peace of mind and all, but if I can spend less and get decent quality generic replacements locally, or at least shipped from within North America, I'll happily take that.

So, I just measured the groove on my replacements. They're just a hair above 1/16 of an inch wide (no metric tape or ruler lying around sadly).  1 and 11/32 inches is the diameter of the groove, so that translates to (roughly) 1.6mm cross section and 34mm diameter.

Edit, I should add, that diameter is center to center, so the outer diameter is more like 1 and 13/32, and the inner diameter is more like 1 and 5/16

More exacting size info is needed to be sure.  Get some calipers and measure again.

Based on the info stated, the closest I can find is a Dash 027 Viton O-ring.

Unfortunately I don't have any calipers handy. I may have access to some this weekend at some point, if so I will report back.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHere.
You buy one and take the dimensions. thus, no possible error and no hole in the pistons 😄

Sorry for the late reply. Last weekend turned out busier than I thought, then I was away for work all week. I got some calipers though, and some precise dimensions.

Outer diameter: 36mm
Inner diameter: 32mm
Groove width: 1.8mm

Hopefully these will do, I appreciate your helping out.
