How long were your velocity stacks?

My favorite and longest is about 3-1/8" overall.  It's length is approximately 3/8" more than the stock rubber air box boot used with BS34 carbs, which just happen to be 3/8" (10mm) longer than RS series carbs.

Well, that didn't last long...

Smokey-stinky fumes came out from the air box around the pods and inflow opening under the seat.The engine ran hot and noisy, though it did seem to be more powerful.

One short half-hour ride was all it took for me to put her back in stacks...





Whew!

I assume when you fitted the pods the crankcase ventilation was just open to atmosphere
