1978 Kawasaki KZ750n Carb boot Cut Off.

The boots on the manifold side are leaking air. I have replacements. Is there an easy way to install them without pulling the carbs away from the AIRBOX side boots.

To clarify, the boots that attach the carb to the engine are leaking. Any easy ways to get them on? maybe just cut the old ones off and somehow slip them on?

Any ideas?

I think it would be easier to remove carbs and replace intake "rubbers" then reinstall carbs.

Any cutting of the carb holders and you’ll get crap inside the engine.
The easiest way is to pull the carbs. Anything less would be a nightmare IMO. There’s o-rings too.

I looked for O-Rings on partzilla. They arent listed. A member here told me there are no o rings on a 78 KZ Twin. Do you have a part number or link? Makes sense there would be an O Ring but diagrams do NOT show that there are any.

Most KZ carb boots have a raised lip that meets the head and crushes down to affect a seal.  No separate O-rings.

I guess by the "raised lip" you mean this part seen in the photo? Just confirming: See below. This is what the manifold-facing part of my boot looks like. .

 

Those boots look beat.  You might want to replace them...assuming new ones are available.  

Old boots often lead to vacuum leaks, which causes a raising idle when warm.  I replaced the boots on my bike straight away, during the restoration.

——> Yes, lip. There’s no replaceable o-ring in that holder.
