Hello Ed (Ness) I figure I'd catch Ya' here again. Speaking about these 34 CV's.
I'm giving up on them before I et started.
I had seen one of your replies about putting red Loc-Tite on the small screws for the  throttle blades?
As I was checking mine. All the air mixture needle screws on top are free. The 4 bowl drain screws are free.
Bowls were spotless inside. The 4 slides and rubber diaphragms are great no holes or rot.

So I decide to put a small custom #1 phillips bit my homemade JIS bit on those little screws! And stopped before I stripped the 1st one! I just knew the feeling! it would not loosen. I've never touched these style carbs before. I'll let someone who knows? Do you heat them little screws 1st? to remove?  I heard they peen the back of screw also after installation?
So I am selling them. I don't need anymore headaches for a few dollars. I still use eBay.

Thanks

Hi Marty,

CV34's are Keihin carbs for the 750/4 bikes.  What you have there are Mikuni BS34 carbs.

There is no reason to remove the throttle plates, normally.  Why are you trying to do so?  If necessary, the screws are #2, not #1.  Before trying to remove them, I'd use some heat if they don't volunteer to come out.  A metal rod, heated red-hot, touching on the screw for a minute or so, will transfer heat into the screw and (hopefully) make them easier to remove.  Again though, leave them alone unless you have a good reason to take them out.

The reason to remove the screws on the Keihin CV34's, is for the choke plates, which you have to remove in order to ungang the carbs.  I sometimes remove the throttle plates to replate the hardware, when doing one of my 100% concourse restorations.    Otherwise, leave well enough alone.

Hope this helps.

I was going to un-gang, everything, as the bodies were spray bombed black, I planned on glass beading everything.
This whole assembly is ugly as FK!
But like I say, to much labor, time and aggravation to do so. for so little profit.
I have no use for these, only intention was to flip for a profit.
I have never used these or even tuned them. Never got into the J model engines. I'm strictly 1973-1980.
I do have a little mini propane (crackpipe ) torch that would work.
Thanks.

This little guy works great for electrical heat shrink tube also, Its pretty cool,  Takes that small butane cylinder to fuel it. I took it from my son when he was about 13-14! That was 24 yrs. ago!

I am interested in a set o rings for both carburetors as I have 1980 KZ750 Ltd. and a 1981 KZ1000 Ltd., you never know when you are going to need them

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I'm working on collecting the last couple of sizes needed for your 750.  Stay tuned.  Regarding the '81 1000, those are CV carbs, right?  If so, I've got that set covered now.
