K34 carb question was created by autovon
Hello all, I have a 1980 KZ750E with K34 carbs, and I’m wondering how to remove the bleed pipe (see pic). I need to remove it from an old damaged carb and move it to the new carb. I tried tapping very lightly with a brass punch and it didn’t move, so I wanted to ask before possibly damaging it.

Drive it out from the carb throat side using a wooden dowel or similar.  I wouldn't use a brass punch, you may deform the tip.  Some penetrating oil may help.

Also, be sure to ungang the carbs, so the bodies can be soaked in carb dip (after removing all the parts, including the pilot screws.)  The interconnection tube O-rings are the ones that suffer the most from deterioration, maybe because ozone gets to them.  They will typically crumble when you try to remove them.

Thanks for the tip. I did ungang them, and even though those o-rings seemed to be in decent shape, I replaced them.

Thanks again, the wooden dowel worked, although I did have to tightly wrap it with electrical tape to strengthen it enough to punch it out. Got her started last night for the first time in almost 20 years, and no carb leaks. The petcock? Not so much. Decided to just buy a new one since my experience says rebuilding them works sometimes and sometimes not. We will see. Thanks again!
