Inline fuel TAP reccomendations. was created by Warren3200gt
Back story, modified 1000j2 running bored out Vm26 carbs, Gpz1100 top end.
Downside is original fuel tap will foul the carbs due to position its located on the tank.
Options, move the tap but the tank is painted so not keen or alternatively use an inline fuel tap and make up a feed plate to fit the original tank tap holes. Only downside would be no reserve tap position unless I use one tap as main and a second as reserve with a Y pipe junction after the taps although it has a fuel guage so not the end of the world.
Anyone know of an inline tap that a) doesn't leak and b) has mount points?
I have the original carbs but would rather use the vm's.

How does a fuel tap will foul the carbs due to position its located on the tank? Fuel starvation? Any pics?

Scirocco, the tap on a J tank is located directly above carb 1. Vm's are taller than the stock J carbs and there's not enough room above the for the tap to fit and the tank to seat down correctly.
Toying with the idea of increasing the carb to head distance by moving the carbs further back towards the seat. Running stacks so have plenty of room to add in spacer plates between the head and the rubbers.
Not quite sure what elongated intake tracts would do to performance though. Apparently there is a whole science relating to vacuum pulses and ensuring a pulse arrives when the inlet valve is open to ensure maximum efficiency and power output.

Nessism, I was thinking of making a block off plate with a single 90 deg outlet through it then running fuel tube along the tank underside and using an inline tap with a strong magnet attaching it to the tank underside further back towards the seat.
That way I have some adjustability to place it wherever suits.
