Are these Stock Carbs for a D1 650? was created by hardrockminer
These were the carbs that came with my D1 restoration project.  I've had them on the shelf for a while and lately I began to pull them apart to clean them.  I've always thought 650's had VM24SS carbs, but the Kawasaki manual says VM22SS carbs were supplied on the B2 and D1.  So these are a bit of a mystery to me.  The arb outlet measures 25 mm, which according to my aged micrometer would tell me they are 24's.  The jets don't match up with the book spec.  The Mains are 102.5, the pilot jet is 15, (there is no second pilot jet) and the needle jet is a 258 series O-4.  The jet needle is a 5CN15 and was installed with the clip in the bottom position.  These carbs have fuel air mixture screws, no pilot fuel screw.  They are not pumpers.

So my question to the 650 gurus is what are they off?

To the best of my knowledge both the 78 B2 and D1 came stock with vm24ss carbs.  The 78 B2A and D1A came with vm22ss carbs.  The ID of 106 over 9A indicate a set of vm24ss carbs.  I have info that indicates that ID was used on the 78 B2, C2 and D1 models, as well as some 79 B3,C3 D2and 80 D3 models.. So it would appear that they could be the stock carbs that came on your D1.

Nice chart and thanks!  Mine look to be a stock match for a D1.  I don't have the manual in front of me but I think it listed VM22SS carbs for the D1.  Will have to check again tomorrow.

I created the tables many years ago and know there is at least one issue with it.  I think I created the table in 2010 or so and am just too lazy to fix the issue now.
Where it states that a set of 1046 carbs were used on the C1, that is not true as that ID is for a set of vm22ss carbs that to the best of my knowledge were never offered on a C model. There are most likely some mistakes with some main jet sizes as well. It was the info I could find at the time and make sense of.

I NEVER CLAIMED IT WAS 100%  ACCURATE.
