28mm pumper carbs was created by Samminorwich
Hi just got my bike running for the first time, I have an idle and it doesn't bog down when revved up but here's the thing the air screws are fully screwed in to achieve this
please can anyone suggest a way I can get the balance out to 1 1/2 turns like standardRe Sammi

First, are the carbs all clean and ready to function?  Second, do they have stock jets and needles?  If so, then do a proper mechanical synch as per the manual.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Hi thanks for reply, the carbs fully function and we're cleaned professionally by an engineer, in the UK pumper carbs are unusual
should I replace the pilot jets to a larger size or the jet on the needle

What bike are you running?  Have you done a vacuum synchronization?  What jets are currently installed?  Pilot, main, needle jet and jet needle.  What position setting are the needles?  Are your choke plungers rebuilt or are they original?

Running pumper 28mm standard airbox filter and four into four baffled , I guess I should start by increasing pilot jet size as the air screw is screwed right in to get an idle, I think I should go up 5 then see how it runs under load

With the air screw all the way in you are reducing air flow, which means you are getting a richer than normal mixture.  I would not go up 5.  Maybe go up one size.  What are you running now?  If 15 then try 17.5.

Only a suggestion but shouldn't the focus be where it is getting unmetered air from if it will only idle with the air screws fully in ?
