Hi I have a 1978 z1000. I'm having trouble with leaky carbs I've adjusted the float but that didn't solve it. The float valves are leaking even if i close them by hand. So i went to order new valves but my supplier keeps coming up with different ones from what i can tell the difference between mine and the ones in the manual mine don't have the adjustment at the bottom, the idle jet is smaller and the my float valve/valve seat is bigger. Can any one identify my carbs so i can get my hands on replacement bits. Thanks

Those are VM29 Smoothbore Mikuni's.  Very desirable, and worth upwards of a grand or more if in good condition.

Congratulations!  As Nessism said, you have mikuni VM29 racing carbs.  You can get many parts from them here.

Yep...VM 29's.  The original VM26 carbs must have been replaced.  They might have been pumpers, which were probably the worst carbs ever used on the KZ1000 bike series.  Consider yourself very lucky!

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
