VM Pumpers Bowls was created by Mikaw
I’m working on another set of carbs for Wheelhop, VM28 Pumpers. This set is missing the #2 bowl with the accelerator diaphragm. Jim sent me a parts set that has the #2 pumper bowl. It’s different then I’m used to seeing. Below it is on the left next to a VM26P for comparison. Notice the drain screw on the left bowl. It looks like a pilot jet. Where as you just loosen it to drain the bowl vs completely removing it. The sensor diaphragm is not drilled so I’m assuming it is correct for a set of VM28P’s. Looking for conformation and identification.

I have a set of VM28 pumpers that have the typical Kawasaki drain screw.  It's a guess, but I think my set may be from a 79/80 shaft model?  I'm not sure where to find the big list of carb stampings, but mine are stamped B9 35 on the left side, and 1098 on the right side of the flange.  Any chance yours might be from a Suzuki?

This post has some info about stampings:

kzrider.com/forum/3-carburetor/573750-19...arbs?start=12#573843

Based on this idea, the 78 Z1R VM28 would have 1040 on them (mine show 104 0A), and the 78/80 Shaft would show 1098 which matches with my previous picture.

What's stamped on your carbs?

Only the vm26's had the sensor diaphragm so the one with the undrilled casting is correct for the vm28's.

Thank you. So it’s a 28mm bowl. Does the unique drain screw lead you to Suzuki or Kaw?

The Suzuki VM's never had the pumper option so it's Kawasaki.

DOHC,

120 over 2

Going on the numbers from that other thread 1202 would be VM26.

80 KZ1000B4 LTD - kaw site list 1202 - shows used on B3 and B4

Are you sure they are VM28?

I just checked my 1980 B4 Supplement Service Manual and it says VM28SS but doesn’t say anything about accelerator pump. I’m pretty sure only the D1-D3 had 28mm without pump.

Did some digging. Wheelhop sent 3 incomplete set with enough combined parts to make one good set. One is the set I posted 120/2. Another 28mm pumpers have 1098. The third is a VM26 pumper with 109/8. Not sure where we’re going here but wanted to add information so maybe the secret code can be deciphered. ( / = over)
