Be aware that not all "return springs" have the same amount if tension.  I ordered a couple of springs for my KZ from the same place and they had differing rates of tension.  I ordered another one from a different supplier and it was different from the other 2 that I had.  I went with the lightest tension rate.

Alright. I made a few adjustments. Thanks for the tips and the better understanding of what the "push" cable is intended to do. Not a fan of that particular cable.

1. Adjusted the pull cable according to manual, so it has a little slack and play.
2. Greased the housing and under the throttle. This had the biggest impact. It definitely feels smoother when I throttle. 
3. I did not replace the spring. The throttle pops back in about 1 second. Does this seem okay? I am tempted to just buy a new carb spring to have peace of mind about it.

I think you are good for a new spring, long as there is a relative snap back you are grand, when we are driving we roll the throttle. as long as things are effort free in the return the rev's wont be prolonging when they shouldn't be and in the worst case if you have to take your hand off the throttle it will go back to where its supposed to be.
