I just bought a black R C Engineering header from a Guy who had a new 80 Z1R. It was ran very little? Looks new. Not a scratch or dent!
Then he said he had the original 28mm pumpers he took off also at 100 miles from new! He said he put 29 smoothies on it. I paid dearly for the header!
He said he wanted $750 for the carbs.
They were wrapped up in a box.
Would someone pay $750 for a set of 1980 28 pumpers? That only had a 100 miles on? He was local and my age, he seemed honest and knew what he was talking about. I did not know him.

I will post some pics of the header later in a new post. It even has the baffle!

Sounds steep to me, even if new.  They go for a lot less on ebay.  I have a set that I would sell for half that much.

I've always felt the 1976 version of the VM26SS carbs were the best ones used on the big Kaws.  Easy to adjust and good across the rpm range.  They probably don't have quite the top end of 28's but who at our age is going to max them out?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I agree! I offered him $400. They were not up for sale anywhere. This guy don’t do the computer stuff! He has his wife list stuff. The RC header was buried on FB market for 46 weeks! I tried to buy it in March! So when I seen it pop up, I grabbed it for his price.
Yes on the 76 26mm. Best stock carbs, with the side air screw. I have 2 sets. I ready, other needs a restore.

No way for $750 I bought two sets recently booth for less than $150. I have about $80-100 into rebuilds. I put a set on my ‘78 1000 B2. They have side air screws. I really like them. Installed Robs air correctors, really smoothed out the lower end.
