Hello,
I'm going to buy a repair kit for my KZ1000 carbs.
I have seen that on the market there are kits with 2 different types of gaskets.
As you can see from the photos, one has an extra hole in the back.
What is that hole for?
Can chose which of the two is the right one for me, without having to open the carburetors?
Thank you in advance

Fuel pump squirted is in the front. He’s showing an additional hole at the rear Red square is pump passage, Green circle is where the additional hole is. Non this is specific to the 1980 LTD 28 pumpers. In order to help we need photos of the carbs, where is the pilot adjusters,

Maybe you are right about the accel pump passage but don't forget, the carbs that used two diaphragms in the pump have a vacuum passage where the green circle is.  That's only for one carb but gaskets are often made one size fits all.

Nessism, I have never worked on the 26mm pumpers with the signal diaphragm. The Partzilla fishe shows the gasket with the hole at the green circle. Thanks.

These are 2 old photos, from before I installed them. For sure they only have one diaphragm, the one with a square shape.I don't know if this will help to recognize them, otherwise I'll have to disassemble them and check.

Your carbs are VM28 pumpers.
The additional hole in the gaskets shouldn't be a problem.

Your carbs are VM28 pumpers. The additional hole in the gaskets shouldn't be a problem.Carburetors just opened, the gasket has a hole, but there is a dead end hole in the carb body. I think both gasket are OK for this vm28. Thank you

You have them open now. I’d pull the float needle and seat and inspect them. They can’t can be reused and it’s recommended if they are good. You’re looking at the taper of the needle it must be smooth without any ridge or ring. You can polish the seat with a q-tips in a drill and use some mother’s aluminum polish. You can very carefully chuck the needle in the drill and polish the tip with some 1200 grit wet sandpaper. If the needle and seat are bad, don’t buy the kits. Spend an extra few bucks and get OEM Mikuni. There will be a size stamped on the seat. Get the same size.

important keep the needle and seat as a set. Don’t not mix them up. Also to help with float level make sure the seat stays with the carb it came out of

EDIT. My smart phone typed can’t. I intended to say the float needle and seat CAN be reused. Dang smart phones!
