REJETTING FOR POD AIR FILTERS was created by AMP2104
Hi. I have acquired a 1981 KZ1100. The bike has pod style air filters. The bike is not running great and I know that the original jets are still installed?
Has anybody been through this and rejetted the carbs to suit? Any ideas of jet size to install?
New to the bike scene.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks Andy.

Hi. I typed “jet for pods” in the search function on this forum and got 4,004 hits.

The answer depends on what you are staring with.
Are they cheap Chinese pods that interfere with the air jets in the mouth of the carbs? If so, no amount of jet swapping will make the bike run correctly. If they are APE, K&N or Uni, you have a fighting chance.
Is the exhaust factory or aftermarket? If aftermarket, buy a Dynojet Stage III kit. It will get you very close.
If the exhaust is factory, you may need to increase the pilot jets by a size or two, and the main jets may need to go up one size.
How do you know the factory jets are still in there? That bike left the factory 40 years ago. Stuff happens.
