Petcock was created by Robb2018
KZ900 I got this fall came with a petcock installed that looked like stock but only had one outlet that went into a "T". Bike seemed to run fine although I drove it less than a mile like that and didn't really get on it. Will this petcock cause the bowls run dry in less than extreme situations? I've come to mostly ride like an old lady on her way to church anymore..

Robb,
off the top of my head, I can't think of a bike that has 2 outlets on the fuel petcock. Your setup is pretty standard. Ride it!

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

These bikes have come with single and double spigot petcocks according to which years and carbs they come with at time of manufacture, with the single spigot type having a larger bore, if it runs fine keep it as modern replacement taps are hit and miss as to whether they work or not unless you buy Pingel.

God is that true. It's like playing petcock roulette. Unfortunately this petcock seems to have fallen into the black hole more commonly known as my garage, so I'm stuck buying a new one. I had an extra one laying around yesterday that I'd previously bought on Ebay that leaked. I had beefed the seller and he gave me a refund and told me to keep the petcock. For the heck of it, I installed it on another tank I had laying around and filled the tank with water. After tightening it up I found it didn't leak a bit. SO... I put it on the KZ tank, put a couple gallons in and still no leaks. Before going to bed I rechecked it and found it again was slowly dripping gas. I tightened the nut a little and it started leaking more. Tightened it a little more and gas started coming out in a steady stream. So there I was, no bucket handy, gas streaming on to the floor and no way to stop it. Ran got a bucket and funnel, was able to direct most of the gas into the bucket until enough was out of the tank that I could tilt it up and away from the valve and then dumped the rest of the gas into the bucket. Moral of the story, no more Chinese POS petcocks.

Biggest trick with the Pingel or their copies is to not actuate them dry, they need fuel against the discs and actuating them dry will abrade the surface causing debris to form then a leak.

Great products PINGEL! I always use my 'wellworth A2Z" to protect and lubricate Everything! inside, outside, house cellar cars, trucks, motorcycles! But first thing I did when I took these ones apart.. AsI am changing this bike around. Using small LTD tank, a little tight fit. So gives me the reason to Rake the frontend out, which means pulling the 2 studs with the rubber mounts for gas tank back about a 1/2" And I'll solve the clearance issue. I did that with my other bike up on the table lift, same LTD small tank. More work, more projects. I wish I had a neighbor, Kid - Teenager, start him on an apprenticeship program to do my work for me! Pay him with Pizza and Pepsi! Ya', right! kid would say F U old man! $20 bucks an hour.

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
