KZP1000 carb pilot plug o-ring size? was created by tnpete
Anyone know the size of the Pilot plug o-ring on a 2001 KZ1000P? The Rebuild kit I ordered, did not come with those. Had the rest but none for the Pilot plug caps.

Can the o-rings be replaced on the fuel tubs? Or just reuse the old ones, they were sealed up and not leaking. But would hate to pull them again. Just because I did not replace if I can.

Thanks for reading between the lines. I wasn’t sure what the OP was asking for.

Actually, the pilot jet passage is plugged with an aluminum plug w/O-ring. I've got some of those carbs so I'll measure and provide a recommendation. Give me a little time...

Regarding the fuel Tee and transfer tubes, they are rubber coated zinc pieces. I just got done working on some of these carbs and there was a ton of corrosion in the passages so I strongly recommend unganging the carbs and making sure everything is honky dory in regards to the pieces and carb bodies. If the OE parts are botched you can buy aftermarket Tee's and transfer tubes made out of aluminum w/O-rings.

Thanks there apart now. Every part . Plus ran though the Ultrasonic tank. Then Soda blasted, even the crud out of the fuel inlet spots. As they were in bad shape. One reason for asking about the o-rings for those.

As for the o-rings for the plugs. If I have to will make up a set. I have 3 big sets of o-rings. The one that should fit, I can't get the plug back in with it on there. Sad they want $8. for a $0.15 cent part.
ID 2.7mm or 0.11"
OD 6.3mm or 0.25"
cross 1.8mm or 0.07"
Will wait and see if that's what you find also.

A 006 and 1.9x2.8 both fit. The metric O-ring is a tighter fit. Both are acceptable. I use Dow 111 to lubricate O-rings before install.

006 sure fits perfect. That metric o ring set I forgot about being in the toolbox. Had 24 of those in it. so at $8. each its saved me a lot of cash. LOL Not sure how long I have had it. Storehouse brand #91512

Actually, 006 is not metric, it's an SAE dash number size. Oh well, doesn't matter as long as you have some that fit.

On the set I'm currently working on the fuel transfer tube pieces were stuck in their mating carb bodies. Wound up wrapping double sided tape on the stub sticking out and grabbing that with my hand to twist and pull out the stuck piece. There was a ton of corrosion inside the carb body which I cleaned out with a wire wheel on a dremel. Glad I didn't give up. This is just a case in point on the importance of unganging the carbs and cleaning everything properly.

I had to work to get my tubes out also. Give up trying to clean the carb ports out though. But went to the blast cabinet and soda blasted them. Came out clean as new, and way less work.

Not to high jack the OP thread but the VM33’s I’m currently rebuilding have seriously benefited from a Dremel. I never thought I would use it as much as I have. I bought one with the remote flexible cable driven head. For cleaning hard to reach areas it is indispensable. I just used it to polish the float needle seats. Best $40 I have ever spent.
