Help needed quick, Respacing honda 750 carb bridge to kz750???

Hey ya'll Ive started my KZ750 build again, and are carburator hunting .

found a set of cheap used, keihin CR29 carbs, of a Honda CB750 from 1977
Will there be much work needed to adapt them to fit my KZ750E1 1980?

I will be running a wisecokit and some aftermarket goodies, (thinking cam and port upon that later)

Thing is. I need to get back to the guy tomorrow, is it worth the hassle or should I just add another 500buck and get a set of new ones?

Also how would I go about adapting the set?

Just buy them - you can always resell them if adapting them to the KZ will be a huge PITA. There is no shortage of CB750 hobbyists.

Ill see if i can get hold of the carbs then :)

Also 73z1 If i only bought parts that would fit my bike, then where would the challenge be?
I just simply wonder if it can be done in a resonable way or if Im better off holding my horses and wait for a set already spaced for the Kz750.

Carbs can be very funny animals to deal with. One slight error, or miscalculation can cause all sorts of grief and problems requiring additional work. Something as simple as an air or vacum leak can create hours spent trying to locate the problem. Then of course you have to be able to decide if the modded carbs are the problem or is it something else. I can appreciate the fact that you want to save money in difficult times, but sometimes people can be pennywise and pound foolish. My feelings are to use the correct items for your bike even if it means having to wait until you have the money to spend on the right stuff. Others may or may not agree, but I hate trying to fix problems that I have created just to save a few bucks. Some of the best advice I ever received from this forum was to always use OEM parts whenever possible with few exceptions. Just my two cents worth.

Never worked with any CR29's, but from the photos I looked at they have the same features as the CR33's that I have had on my bikes since back in 1982.
The two brackets that hold the carbs in place have elongated slots. These carbs can be made to fit numerous bikes just by sliding the carbs to different locations. Same with the throttle shaft that raises the slides. It also has extra drilled holes in case you have to move the slide arms that are connected to the throttle shaft. Once you get the carbs mounted to your motor, the only thing left is the jetting. The CR's are easy to change any part when it comes to rejetting!!!

You work off of carb #2 when you start spacing your carbs out to fit your motor. I took a set of CR33's that were set up for a 1000 Ninja motor, and I moved the carbs out to fit an early Kz1000 motor without buying one extra part!!!!!!!
