FLOAT HEIGHT ? 28mm pumper 79 kz1000b

Anyone know the required float height for a kz1000b (79 28mm pumper) carbs? Changing jets best look at floats too thanks....

Float height is just an estimate. Key thing is the fuel level which is about 3mm from the gasket surface. A lot of the aftermarket needles have weak springs, which increases the fuel level. That said, if forced to guess I'd say a float level of about 24mm.

The float height is 26 mm. The fuel level, measured from the bottom of the carb body to bowl flange is 4 mm. An easy way to set floats, and to check your float valves can be found here.

Edited to add that if you change the float valves be sure to buy quality. I use Keyster for carb replacement parts but OEM would be even better if you can find them.

Agree with buying quality float valves.

If in the US Dennis Kirk has great prices on Mikuni brand jets and float valves. Kawasaki used non-standard Mikuni sizes for many of their float valves though. For example, I think they used a 2.3 for many of the big KZ's where the Mikuni parts come in .5 increments. 2.0's are safe though, considering Suzuki used that size for their GS1000.
