Plumbing Solder on Float Pivot

I just rebuilt my carbs (Minuni vm26ss) and subjected them to the clear tube float level check. #3 had a gusher, so I took it apart to adjust it and found that the float was..well, just floating around. The copper pivot had become extremely malleable and unbent from the pivot pin. When I squeezed it back together, it broke in a straight line.

So...I got out my plumbing copper tray, cleaned it up with emery paper, dressed it with acid flux, and soldered it back together with acid-core solder, being careful not to melt the plastic floats. Good penetration, nice and solid, and when I re-checked the float levels, it was right on.

My question is, should I treat this as a temporary fix or a permanent one? I'm a former plumber, so I'm confident the solder job itself is sound, but I don't know how plumbing solder stands up to gasoline. Any inisights would be appreciated.

You sound like me! I always try and fix it 1st.
But, melt a few beads of the same solder then drop them in a small whatever, jar, can that holds gasoline. Then just wait and watch.
I don't think it will have any effect on it.
I'm working on brazing brass soft plugs into an exhaust system with the 4 into 2 balance tubes rotted. But have good solid metal on pipes to braze it to.

Electrical solder stands up just fine to gas. I soldered a brass tube over a cracked float bowl overflow tube maybe 10 years ago and it's immersed in gas 6 months a year ever since without any problems. I know plumbing solder may be a bit different but I'd be surprised if you had a problem.
