Looks great for sure, I like the manifold as well. I think that carb might be a Chinese copy though, but if works and 50 bucks it's fine.

Thanks for the write up. It's one of the better ones I've seen for a 2-1 manifold. I'm thinking about doing the same thing for my KZ750 & will be using this as a template. Could you provide some dimensions on the manifold? Distance between pipe (where it meets the engine, not sure of correct terms), I would like to compair it to the 750. Thanks again for sharing your info.

Hi guys, sorry i havent checked this thread in a while and I somehow don't get the email notices for replies.

I'll get some dimensions for it today. I had the whole bike powder coated and made a new seat for it out of an old military parachute pack. I'm hoping to get it all put back together in the next week or two.

Hollywooodmx- I purchased it from Powersports Place out of Texas and I'm pretty sure it's authentic. If it is a copy, it would be hard to tell the difference.

Hey baretto, can you give us all the specs from your carb? what kind of slide (2.0, 3.0), needle clip position, how many turns on the idle circuit, etc.? Im having a manifold built by a welder friend next week and using the VM34 too. If you already have it running like a top, your carb data would save me a lot of tuning headache.

For Jetting, I went with a #35 Pilot jet (it came with a 25), and a 170 main. It came with a 260 main but I purchased several jets ranging from 160-200. I knew a 260 would be too big.

This setup is perfect for my elevation (2700ft, dry desert) and baffled exhaust.

I got the bike finished up last night and running again.

I'm hoping to get it up on bike efix, pipeburn and the bikeshed soon.

barreto, nice work and great write-up. It's got me to thinkin in regards to a 750 twin project.

Check the relay flag thread "KZR North American Relay Ride North West Leg NOW", it is comming to Boisie real soon. Drop a PM (private message) or a post up in the thread if you are interested in meeting up with the local participants.

Good luck,
Jim

awesome bike and thread!! ... looked at quite a few before finding this.
Do you find the vm34 sufficient for the 400?

Mine was a 440 and the VM34 was about right. Treitz has a 400 and I believe he has a 32 on his. He'd have to verify that.
