Hello everyone...I'm a brand new member, and this site is what I've been searching for!! You guys are great.
My bike is a 78 KZ1000A which I've been rebuilding for 3 years, off and on ,in the Chicago area. I'm running pods, and bog down in every rain. Haven't seen any forum talk on fitting a stock box into place. Recently purchased a used box and K and N filter sans hoses.
How do I get the box into place in the frame? Carb tubes are in good shape.

If the rubbers are in good shape it is much easier. I just did it. I did buy new boots. Once the airbox is in, fold the rubber boots back over themselves. Like turning it inside out. Then install the carbs. With the x-tra room (about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) the carbs will install easier. Then when carbs are on engine unfold the rubbers over the carbs. One of my least favorite jobs but with good rubbers this way works best for me.

Black1015; If you soak the old rubber boots (assuming you didn't buy new ones) in hot water, it makes them much easier to reinstall. Your gonna end up with sore fingers for sure.
