Dear Sirs (and Ladies?),

My petcock seems impossibly difficult to turn. Is this normal? For something you need to do every time you start the bike, it seems excessive. should i take the knob off and put some oil on the o-ring? is that a bad idea for this part?

Mine gets tight too, I just give a shot of silicone lube spray and it frees it up. I did buy a new petcock but it doesn't clear the carbs so I have to keep this one alive as long as possible.

I had one where the screw was too long and was bottoming. Other than that a little lube on the O would't hurt. But, I also gave up on my 900's and got a Pingle. Z1 Enterprises has few different petcocks and rebuild kits for them too. 1045 is right tho. Generally stock is crap. There are also some past threads where some people have come up with clever economical replacements if ya wanna go looking in the vaults.
