No O-Rings Required?!?! Doubtful. was created by mind2find
Hey Y'all,

Ok, so I've got my '76 KZ-750B2 carbs completely apart. And I'm at my most nervous point through this whole project (after having to drill out one of the pilot jets , :pinch: ) because during disassembly, I didn't find any O-rings. Is it possible that this particular Mikuni CV setup doesn't need them? Doesn't seem likely.

1.) So the next question is, what to do? Do I just put it back together and hope for no leaks? It's a '76 so that link to the guy who sells O-rings in bulk is no good because he only sells post-80's.

2.) I'm also nervous about using carb cleaner on the parts because of the warnings. Is it ok to just spray it on a rag and use it that way?

3.) Are there any parts of the carbs that I should use a temporary locking agent on when putting it back together?

Any help would be appreciated guys. This is my last big hurdle to gettin' this thing on the road aside from taking the back tire off. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks!

Maybe these are the O-Rings? Like I said. This is my learning project.

If those are the O-Rings, I'm assuming I don't want to spray carb-cleaner on these guys. Right?

So for cleaning carb parts that shouldn't be touched by carb-cleaner, what to clean with?

It's been awhile since I took the 750 twin carbs apart, but IIRC those are o-rings. I don't think spraying them with carb cleaner will hurt, as long as you wipe them off within a reasonable time. I believe most of the warnings involving carb cleaner and o-rings is related to soaking the carbs in a container of carb cleaner for an extended time.

thanks steell. i'm gonna go with that. i already cleaned them with carb cleaner since reading that and no ill effects to be seen. tomorrow the real challenge begins. reassembly and de-rusting my gas tank.
