Velocity Stacks and leakage

My 76 Z900 4A is leaking gas even though we replaced t-joints and even tried teflon tape to fit it tighter. I just read that velocity stacks-which are installed on my bike-can lead to some damage due to ingested debris. Could this also cause such leaks?

the damage would be in the engine not the carbs ,dont they have slipcover filters for stacks?

Well, when you suck a bird, bat or large insect through your velocity stack into your carbs, they would be drawn through the intake venturi into the combustion chamber directly and get between the spark and piston crown so this issue wouldn't affect your fuel tees. If you ride with your gas cap open, and a cat falls into your gas can and after some considerable decomposition, gets sucked through your fuel lines and fuel bowls, could potentially lodge in the small diameter fuel pipes but I doubt the dead cat would cause the fuel pipes to leak. When I first began rebuilding carburetors for a living, getting the old fuel tees to NOT LEAK was one of my major challenges. It is pretty unprofessional to have a pretty and rebuilt set of carbs drooling gas from this area. I make sure it doesn't happen now.

WG, The cat would surely get filtered by either the Petcock filter or separate fuel filters before it got to the "T"'s, wouldn't it?.

It's not the stacks. I had open velosity stacks for over 20 years with on problems.
