Any source for KZ440 Air Box Ducts? was created by KnuckleBuster
I need a couple of rubber ducts that run from the air box to the carbs on an 81 KZ440 A4 LTD. I have one good one, but the other is bent up and very stiff. I tried soaking both of them in hot water to loosen them up and it worked a little bit, but the one is still not mounting to the carb correctly.

Does anyone supply these? I checked bikebandit.com and it says they have been discontinued.

Thanks for the help,
Jay

The Kaw P/N for those things is: 14073-1034... They are a discontinued part. Keep watch on eBay or go to a home improvement store and look for a rubber hose that would make a suitable replacement. I don't think you will find any new ones unless they come up for auction on eBay. Sorry...

Nuts...that's what I figured.

Where are the mixture adjustments and synchronizing ports on the KZ440 carbs? The only vacuum ports I see are the ones that run the petcock (one runs petcock, other is capped). Is that what I'd hook my synchronizer too?

Thanks,
Jay

Based on your questions, perhaps this would be the right time to spring for a manual!

The carb sync tool hooks to the vacuum ports. Between the two carbs and linking is a screw and set screw I think for making the synchronization adjustment. The mixture screws are capped I think on your bike and the caps need drilled and popped out. I don't have a 440 carb in front of me but most Keihins are on the cylinder head side on the top middle. PLEASE don't drill anything until you confirm this...

You just confirmed what I figured. I ordered a manual in the same shipment as new carm manifolds - I'm pretty sure one of them is torn open, which would account for the surging at idle. Thanks Wiredgeorge - yet again you've saved my neck.

Knucklebuster: I may still have a set of those boots kicking around. Drop me an email at kitATkithalsted.com & I'll see if I can dig 'em up.

Cheers,

I'm looking at a couple for a 79 kz400 in front of me now-in good shape-only replaced 'em because I scored a new set super cheap on e-bay. If they will work, and you want them let me know, if no one else has any. Later
