this is the portable steamer that I have used: the small jet I mentioned is really a concentrator nozzle that directs the pressurized steam to where you want to clean.

If you remember Ibsen22K's approach of baking soda and boiling water, well it's something like that but with the steamer you can actually direct the steam (really, really, really hot water)to where you want it to go. it's especially great to reach nooks and crannies that scrubbing brushes (tooth brushes, pipe cleaner, etc) can't reach or wont fit. works great on clogged up jets.

Yarfo... Thanks! Will have to look for one of those and give it a try. The baking soda or baking powder clean up method didn't work well for me. I have tried it on carbs that have been encrusted with the white corrosive powder and it didn't do much. The white powder forms as a chemical reaction; probably to moisture, over time and is about the hardest thing to clean off old carburetors, in my opinion... a lot harder than dried up gummy gas.
