I have a 77 kz 750 b2 I was wondering if some one could help me with a problem that I am having. befor the bike ran ok up till about 5000 rpm so I got a jet kit from steell, the bike runs great a wide open throttle. When I take off I have to give it a lot of gas or it will stall. also when it is idleing It has a pop also the bike will not idle down like it is supose to. I think that there is an air leak possibly comming from bad intake boots. I looked on z1 interprizes but they don't list any for my bike! does any one Know where I could get some from? I would greatly appriciate any help!

Did I send you idle jets also (I don't remember)?
What position is the needle clip in?

Just for anyone else that is reading, I believe the jets and needles (and idle jets if I sent them) are from a DynoJet stage three kit for the 750 twins.

You sent me needles and the jets that matched them! I had the clips on the very bottom and then today I i raised them up two notches. Are the idle jets the same as the pilot jets, if not where are they located.

I suggest putting the clips on the second notch from the top, I think that's where they were when I removed them from the carbs they were in. Those are some big jets and fat needles :)

I think I have one of the "Pilot" jets that came with the kits still in the left carb on my bike, that's what happens when you assemble two carbs out of a box containing carb parts from six carbs :woohoo:

I've been meaning to pull the carbs off and switch it, just ain't found that "Rountuit" yet :D

So the what I refered to as the pilot jet is the same thing as the idle jet! I put everything that you sent me in the carb, but I didn't put the clips in the right position though. DO you think that the intake boots are leaking also, because of the that the idle is acting?

Sounds like the idle circuit is lean. Hard to get rolling and some popping. Not sure why bike was "jetted" except that intake/exhaust mods forced the rejetting so I would FIRST try adjusting the idle mixture screw to richen the idle mixture before doing anything else. There may be leaks in the intake manifolds or vacuum port caps but the symptoms sound like lean idle mixture.

What way do I move the clips on the needles to richen or lean the mixture; then I'll try to adjust the carbs when I get them right. If I can do It that way. Any suggestions!

Clip at the top of the needle = lean
Clip at the bottom of the needle = rich
The top is the blunt end, the bottom is the pointed end.

They're 38mm Mikuni CV's I think modern carbs are a bit more complicated than these old buggers tho. The part no. is 16065-036 they crop up on ebay quite often.
