Harbor freight lift, finally.

Just picked one of these up for the different bike projects that I seem to get into. Getting to the age that working on the floor is no longer what I like to do. Here is the coupon from Harbor Freight, I think it is a good deal.

Just make sure you have a trailer or truck and a way to get the lift loaded and unloaded. Comes in a small coffin like box.

Will be adding some pics of the JB weld patch of that cover. If that does not work then I will look into MIG/TIG or other patch.

So I finally spent a little cash, not the best but for how often I'll use it, it will be fine.

Went on sale this weekend. Of course this is just AFTER I've got several things sorted on the bikes in prep for better weather. :blink:

Hope you bought the extended warranty, mine stopped lifting after 3 months.

I'd say figuring out a way to fix it would be easier than dealing with harbor freight staff on a warranty, lol.

At any rate hope mine lasts a little longer, if it doesn't, I'll fix it.

I've had mine for a few years - and I love it.

I love mine. I swapped out the "leaves something to be desired" wheel clamp with one of HF locking wheel chock. Be sure to check the hydraulic oil on the ram. Mine was almost a pint low. Another mod I made was moving the U-clamps to the position about 3' fron the front. I then took the ratchet end of a tie down strap and cut the hook off and fed the U-clamp through where the hook attached. I can then use the ratchet straps without having to balance the bike as well as trying to keep both hooks of the strap hooked.

My little cb100 cafe was a breeze to load up, it's tiny.
I got the 550 up there and had to dance around quite a bit before I got it on the centerstand, not good.

I love the strap idea, and I've seen one with that wheel chock. Both seem like worthwhile upgrades.

I love my HF lift. I did make some modifications to it however. First I added a small peninsula to the side so I could easily put the side stand down so I could get off the bike and then put it on the center stand. This is particularly helpful when putting my GL1500 goldwing on the stand. The lift is rated to 1000 lbs and a GL1500 weighs 900 lbs.





Then I added a peninsula on the front so I could ride the bike further up on the stand to make sure the center stand wasn't too close to the trap door used for rear tire removal. The photos show my GL1500 with the rear tire removed.

Finally I cut the back bar away from the tire removal trap door from the stand and replaced what I removed metal with bolt on angle steel. That makes rear tire removal much easier.












I haven't had a problem with the lift in the three years I have owned it. I have had my kz1000-P7, DL650, and my GL1500 on the lift many times.

Yeah, I tried to fix that twice. They show right side up on my computer but not when posted. I even tried to rotate them upside down on my computer and they still post upside down. Maybe someone can tell me how to post them right side up.

The same damn thing happens to me 75% of the time I attach a photo!! Maddening!

Yeah, I was just being a smartass but you knew that. Wish I had the garage room and $ to get one of them lifts
