Why would it feel even hotter when you are going 60 in 100F air temps? Am I reading the chart wrong?

I would have expected to see either a linear relationship or an exponential relationship between the increase in speed and the decrease in the perceived temperature. I also would have expected that relationship to hold steady over the speed range shown.

Using the 30 degree column as an example:

Add 5 MPH, lose 3 degrees.
Add 5 MPH more, lose 11 degrees more.
Add 5 MPH more, lose 7 degrees more.
Add 5 MPH more, lose 5 degrees more.
Add 5 MPH more, lose 4 degrees more.
And on and on.

I can certainly understand why you begin to lose greater amounts of heat as you move up from ) MP to 5 MPH to 10 MPH; but I don't understand exactly why that perceived heat loss begins to slow down as you continue gaining speed. The only thing I can think is that beyond a certain speed "cold is cold" and you're no longer able to perceive it getting colder and colder as you approach zero degrees and lower.

I think that as your speed increases, some of the air is moving with you. A pocket of air to serve as a temperature buffer. Maybe that's just where my mind goes.

I wouldn't expect everyone to understand this but it is a heat transfer equation at work. What you should notice about the chart is that the break point between feeling cooler or hotter happens at your body temperature. So when the air temp is lower that your body temp then the wind is stripping heat away from your body making it feel colder. Above 98.6 degrees air temp the wind is warmer therefor adding heat to your body.

The greater the difference between the air temp and your body temp means that the wind is more able to take heat away or add it. Wind speed also magnifies the rate of heat removal or addition. It might be hard to understand but heat is like water in a sense. It will move to even itself out just like a body of water will self level. Put two bodies with different temperatures in contact and eventually the heat will transfer from the warmer to the cooler until they become the same temp. In this case the wind and your body are those two things. I hope that makes sense.
