Piston positioning rod

So I'm getting ready to put together my upper end if time permits and I was looking for something to stabilize the pistons to make it easier when trying to slip the rings back in the cylinder block. Was looking for some perfect diameter metal rods so I can duplicate the function of the special tool: the piston positioning rod. Than found this laying around in my tool room. Its a 5", 1/8" dia. double rod tool hanger used on peg boards. Only had to straighten the curve towards the end that is meant to keep a tool from slipping off. You will need to have one for each side of the engine. The 5" one was long enough to reach underneath two pistons. Not sure how much it would cost to buy the real piston positioning tool from Kawasaki, but I'm sure this is by far cheaper, very stable (compared to using loose metal rods) and you just may already own one on your peg board, .

I would cut off the two rods that stick up. They might get in the way.

I use a tool called the "WIFE"....the thing that sucks about this tool is the attutide and it talks back..... :sick: :huh: :S

Dam...that looks like it would work perfectly.... I have some Kawaski tools similar to that.
