Bike Stand for front of frame.

Playing with the Hobart Handler welder and some scraps around the house... had to buy the threaded rod, nuts, and one can of paint, about $15.

I put the bike on the center stand, then put this under the front of the frame to get the front wheel off the ground. This makes a very stable platform for swapping motors out, or doing any front end work.

My buddy has a triple-tree stand, but it's no use if you are removing the triple tree.

Have you considered making the pieces the frame sits in out of heavy walled round pipe cut down center then maybe coating them with some of that rubber dip coating stuff for too handles to keep from scratching your frame?

I put some handles on the nuts so I don't have to use a wrench to lift. I thought it was going to take more effort to jack it up, but it doesn't take much, so the handles should be enough.

Wireman, I made some cushions out of some old seat foam scraps. They work well, but I was thinking of just routering some small blocks of wood that would lock into the frame rests. Probably won't happen, though. I have to start doing work on the actual bike.





Of course, just trying it out, and the whole thing is soaked by a freak thunderstorm. Had to dry it off real good. Glad I painted it before trying it!

Resurrecting the orange bike.

Finally finished... painted the feet black for style points.

so cool....now weld a rear lifter like thew ones they sell...

but really...very nice...love the hand spin idea too....

You've inspired me to build one out of uni-strut so I can change the width between the jack screws. Also going to make a jig that will basically be a trolly that fits over the backbone of the frame to allow easy removal/replacement of the engine. After recently doing this with a cherry picker I decided I could build a better mousetrap and make engine moves a breeze. More to come!
