If your top fork bolts have a recessed hex hole like the KZ650C1 you can make a tool to remove them by cutting the hex end off a cheap spark plug socket and using it on a ratchet extension. No need to remove the handlebars.

That's really neat. I threaded a nut on a bolt and welded it.I have extra plug sockets. Roy
