Well i will throw my hat in the "projects" form
this is my newest 400, got it this weekend. Bought off eBay for 157.50. Higher than i wanted to go but it had a clear title which i really need. real bottom of the line, no electric start, five speed and drum brakes. no access to a truck to haul it the 180 miles home, so i disassembled it and shoved it into my Plymouth Acclaim. pic is from the auction. all my other 400, except the 75' are pretty far from original.
plans: this one will get about a 12 over swingarm, and i am thinking of trying to get some leaf springs in the back, probably under the swingarm if i can. drums front and rear. i have all winter and access to alot of machine tools. not in a hurry but it should be done around march.
and the other 400 project which will be with all my left over parts is that i am going to try and make a kz400 dirtbike. but that is for a different thread.

the frame is stripped of everything. now the fun task of removing all the extra brackets and do-dads. this time however i am going to leave at least one helmet hook. got carried away last time. i do not think i am going to modify the exsisting frame too much

aparently these really cheap 400 have a very rough finish on the fork lowers. took near an hour to get her a little shiney. and i removed the fender brackets in the lathe

OK i got a little disheartened that i was at the end of the projects page, so i got off my butt and did some work. just started on the rear and mounted the Sportster shocks, (ten bucks off craigslist) and am deciding on the seat layout and how much frame i need to remove
