What's going on people of this forum. About a year ago i acquired a kz650 along with a custom frame that fits a kz550 motor. After sorting through several bins since both bikes were stripped down to the frame i was able to get the motor running in the custom frame and mostly assembled with the little information i had about it. Now i am kinda at a road block with it and would like to identify what company if any made the frame so i could finish this project. Or if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.

Don't know for sure but I think that frame has been created in somebody's shed rather than by a recognised frame builder (looking at the head angle and single downtube it may have been adapted from a "chop" frame), it's got potential for a cool little bike though
Edit: something else worth looking at is the position of the swingarm pivot (it looks high compared to the stock 550 frame below) which may mean the chain will be "eating" the swingarm  !!!!

That frame looks spindly, with a massively stiff swingarm, and a beefy fork. The front tire is way too big too. Odd.  A custom frame like that may be a challenge to register.  You may want to work through that before investing too much into the project.

I hope you receive the feedback you get here in the "supportive" vein it is intended. The more I look at this the more potential issues I see, "custom" frames are great to set your bike apart from the crowd "if they are done right" if not you will likely end up with an evil handling little monster that will try and kill you at every opportunity (I suspect there may be a reason why this came as a "box of bits")  a couple of things worth checking out
  • Swingarm pivot location looks wrong (too high)
  • Swingarm pivot mounts look flimsy
  • Front wheel looks like it may foul when suspension is compressed
  • Rear wheel looks like it may foul when suspension is compressed

The chain is the the biggest issue right now for me.
