Looks good. Are you using the larger Z1 tank. It doesn't look like the LTD tank. Im Just starting a similar project with the 80 KZ1000 ltd frame however I will be putting in a spare KZ900 engine I have. In going to use the bigger tank but will need to remove the steering lock that is on the side of the neck and rework it to accept the older lock on the bottom on the triple tree. I see you have the Delkivic. Mine should look similar but im thinking of using the 78 black paint scheme with the gold stripes with a black engine. I was kinda thinking of using a red withe the 78 gold strips and looking at yours I just might do that.

So did you find that the steering lock on the side of the steering tube interferes with the tank. I cant tell if you removed it from the photo. I have the same Delkivic on my Susuki GS1100. On the KZ I think I will go with the straight muffler. Otherwise it looks like the exact look im going after. I will be using the stock air box also

My brother lost the original key so the steering lock is still installed and the larger tank fits fine with the steering lock installed. I will probably pull the front end apart and remove the lock all together. This bike wont leave my sight and will never be left out overnight.

My tank hits the lock and I don't have a key either so I will just cut it off grind the weld down and weld up any hole left over. I may not deal with a lock either but my triple tree is from a 79 kz
