69 thru 71 had electronic ignition which proved problematic and KHI switched to points ignition in 72.

Kawasaki in '72  offered both the CDI H1A and the points H1B models that year. Kawasaki only made the mistake of putting points ignition on the H1 that one model year.
The H1/KH500 had electronic ignition for the rest of the years it was produced.
The H1B and the S series triples were a real pain in the ass to keep running at peak performance because of the weak points ignition those bikes came with!!!!
I owned Kawa triples with both styles of ignitions in the past. I would NEVER AGAIN own a triple with points ignition!!!!
Thanks for correcting my post Dr. Gamma I was parroting something I was told by a tech at a local Kawasaki shop 40 plus years ago when buying tune-up parts for my H1B.
