It all started as a Z1 tail piece conversion

I haven't touched the bike for a couple of weeks as last weekend I took Mrs Wookie to London. 3 years ago I bought concert tickets for her birthday but it was cancelled due to Covid so last weekend she got her wish to see Andrea Bocelli (not exactly wild rock gig but excellent just the same a I think she might be too classy for me)
So today I started on the other side panel ( I Promise it will get more interesting soon) what a PITA that turned out to be, the first one wasn't too bad to do but the right hand side is an aftermarket panel which is a different plastic ( thicker, harder and not ABS) it reacts to heat differently, the curvatures are a little off and it resists the "hot rivets" to make the joins but we have got there in the end (I have left it for the glue to set now and will start sanding in the morning

So I now have a matched pair of side panels, I have put the flange in for the lower mounts (will trim once I have decided where the mounts will be) feeling good

Very nice!

I guess you have the original mounts left and will reallocate those? Or will you fabricate new ones?
One of mine have broken off and is missing, I have been poundering if I should fabricate something or get a new panel..maybe you have some ideas for this?

I need to fabricate almost everything on this build, the original frame mounts are gone and the panels are a totally different shape now. I will pick up the bottom mounts from the extra tubes I put in to brace the frame for the mono-shock conversion

Have you got the piece that broke off your panel ?
Edit: just saw that it is missing  maybe you could find what you need on a different panel (or just bite the bullet and buy new) I am only going to all this hassle because I can't buy panels that would fit the way I want with the frame mods and one- off seat

Happy to report that the saga of the sidepanels is drawing to a close, got the mounts sorted today so just a bit of fine tuning and they will be ready for bodyworking

More thrashing on plastics this weekend, have got the mods done on the rear inner fender (to clearance other components) just needs tidying up and trimming now once the bonding etc has had time to set properly. I have included a pic of an original for those not familiar with how it used to look. Also started bending a sheet of ABS to make the finishing panel that will replace the original fender
