Tire Load

Hello everyone, 

I was hopping to get some advice regarding my Kawasaki 1978 kz650 cafe racer build. I currently have a 100/90-18 Kenda tubeless front tire rated for 494lbs and a 120/90-18 Kenda tubeless rear tire rated for 634lbs. The kz650 wet should be somewhere around 480lbs. I’m 6’0ft 175lbs… so the total weight limit obviously exceeds the tire load limit.

Should I buy new tires? Should I just play it safe until these get worn out? I don’t plan on riding crazy. I’m guessing it’s better to be safe than sorry and just buy some new tires, but I wanted some opinions before.

Add the two tire ratings together to get the total allowable load.  You are not even close to it.  Ed

I bought a cheap bathroom scale I keep in the garage. Add front tire to rear tire weight to get total weight of bike. My scale only goes to 300lb, so I can't test weights with me on the bike.

You surely can weigh you and your bike with a bathroom scale.
I weighed my Chevy 1/2 ton with a $20 Wal-Mart 300lbs max digital bathroom scale.

You have to use a lever.
